Again, SECIA has supported the Annual Como Cookout's (Sept. 20) to achieve a low waste event.  SECIA's fall HECUA intern, Alison, came on board and recruited volunteers to station the waste center of the event.  The photo show these volunteers monitoring Cookout-goers as they dump their food waste. Besides the eight 50-gallon bags of compostable waste collected , the event utilized cloth table cloths and planners planned the serveware to be low impact.  This year's event had about 850 attendees.  To see photos of the annual back to school gathering go to SECIA's other website and click the "gallery" tab.
