Earth Day 2014 at Northrop Auditorium and Northrop Mall
Tues. April 22, Tables 11 am - 3:30 pm, Music 12-1 pm, Food 1 pm
Come celebrate Earth Day at the newly renovated Northrop Auditorium on Tuesday, April 22nd from 11am-3:30pm. An outdoor concert will take place from 12-1pm featuring Grand Dynasty, DJ CFANS, and Center Coast. Inside, there will be FREE food at 1pm as well as student groups and outside organizations sharing their work and how they have been serving our community and the environment. SECIA will be there!
Presented by Students for Sustainability, U Students Like Good Food, Environmental Student Alliance and Fossil Free Minnesota, with ESPM Student Association, MPIRG and other student groups co-sponsoring and attending.
Bike Motion, Part 1

Celebrate Earth day on your commute home. Stop by for the installation of Como’s first bike repair station designed by Marlaine Cox at Sunny Day Earth Solutions, 26th andComo Avenue. Mechanics will be on hand to provide air, tuneups, grease, bike painting tutorials and spring learning tips. There will be music, treats and many eco themes to explore.
Environment Committee Meeting

In honor of the bike repair station installation, we are moving our environment meeting to Sunny Day.
SCR Neighborhood Clean up
10-2 pm, Van Cleve and the Purple Onion
Get together with friends and neighbors to clean up your neighborhood, hosted by Student & Community Relations. Volunteers get a free pancake brunch following the clean up! There will be two check-in locations:Marcy Holmes:Purple Onion and SE Como:Van Cleve Park. The clean up will go from 10am to 12pm and brunch will be served from 12:15pm to 2pm at Van Cleve.For more information, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bike Motion, Part 2

After helping clean the neighborhood of its Spring Jam coating, stop by for the installation and celebration of Como’s second bike repair station designed by Marlaine Cox at Van Cleve Park. Mechanics will be on hand to provide air, tuneups, grease, bike painting tutorials and spring cleaning tips. There will be music, treats and many eco themes to explore. Bring the whole family.

Saturday:Annual cleanup of St. Anthony Park's Kasota Ponds
9 am-12 pm, 2536 Kasota Avenue
This event relies on volunteers to help clean up the ponds. These wetlands are a critical part of our Mississippi River watershed. This is a fun solo or family activity, so please join us for some exercise and fun learning activities. OnSaturday, April 26th please check-in at the parking lot of 2536 Kasota Avenue, west of Hwy 280, for supplies, directions and snacks. We hope you can make it!
Saturday April 26th,1 – 4 pm, Prospect Park United Methodist Church, 22 Orlin Avenue SE, Minneapolis. This is the 3rd annual Celebrate Southeast event. This event is a fundraiser for Southeast Seniors. We coordinate services for seniors so that they may live well at home with an enhanced quality of life. Last year over 200 people attended. Please join us!
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. A Taste of Southeast , Silent Auction, and Music by Southeast Area Musicians
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Program honoring Katie Fournier, long-time resident of the Southeast Como neighborhood.
Tickets: Adults $15, Seniors 65 and older $10, children 10 and under $5.

Marcy Holmes annual Earth Day River Clean-Up
Saturday April 26th, 9:30 am - noon at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park, 6th Ave SE & Main St.
Refreshments provided by Bruegger's Bagels and General Mills. We clean the stretch of the Mississippi from 35W Bridge to Nicollet Island, Rain or Shine.
Gloves, bags and maps provided.
