This week in the gardens. . .

Last week at Gateway Garden we planted containers with plants donated from Bailey's Nursery and the the Minnesota State Horticultural Society's program Minnesota Green.  The garden looks great! We have been noticing some damage from the fourlined  plant bug (see photo)  on some plants though, and some creeping bell flower has showed up as well.  This a major weed and is also a problem in the Como Corner Garden.  It has long roots that need to be dug out or the plant will grow back.
On Saturday at Accord we worked on pulling up the quack grass is invading the garden and planted some native grasses, side oats and little blue stem.
The Talmage Crossing beds are also looking good.  The rain from the past week has really helped them.  Stellas are blooming along with the marcus sage.
This week is Como Corner Garden Night! Hope to see a lot of people Tuesday at 6:30.  We will be planting.
