Here is a FUN volunteer opportunity in the SE Como neighborhood!  The Como Cookout event is a fall festival that kicks-off a new academic year and brings together neighbors old and new. Volunteers are key to making this event successful and receive a free meal and a t-shirt. See below for more about the festival and contact the Neighborhood Liaisons to sign up. *Job Title:Como Cookout Volunteer
Organization : Southeast Como Improvement Association (SECIA)


Work Schedule:Sunday, September 16th. Part-shifts that cover from noon to 7 pm






Compensation Details:Free t-shirt & a meal in a lively fun community event






*Job Description:Volunteer! Volunteers are needed to make this fun Cookout event happen! We need help setting up, taking registrations, working at tables, taking photos and more. All volunteers get a meal and a t-shirt. Here is the event posting:



10th annual Como Cookout!
September 16th, 2-5 pm
Van Cleve Park

Come and celebrate the SE Como neighborhood with a free locally-sourced meal*, entertainment, and all ages activities. Meet your neighbors and learn about opportunities in Southeast Minneapolis.

Entertainment Schedule
2:00pm- 2:30pm Prairie Fire Lady Choir
2:35pm - 3:05pm El Guante
3:10pm - 3:55pm Como Ave Jug Band
4:00pm - 4:50pm KidsDance

Other activities include:
Hair braiding, face-painting, arm wrestling tournament, silent auction, fire truck, garlic garden give-away, painting of the Gateway Mural on 15th Ave SE, health screening, inflatable jumper, resource fair and door prizes.


*Meat from Fischer Farms located in Waseca, MN and as much produce as possible coming from other local farms.

The Como Cookout is a low-waste community event sponsored by U of MN Student and Community Relations, the Southeast Como Improvement Association, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Allina Neighborhood Health Connection, Two Fat Guys and a Grill and the U of MN Coca-Cola Development Initiative/Students Activities Grants Initiative.
*Qualifications:Able to lift 20 lbs, but no lifting jobs can be found
