The 400-500 gallon spill of potassium hydroxide happened on Thursday, October 13th while being transferred from a rail car to Hawkins Inc. It spread to the nearby University of Minnesota property. The community wasn't notified until Tuesday, October 18th. The spill was not going to be cleaned up until Wednesday, October 19th, 2011. We are unsure as to the reason for this delay.
Attached below is the Spill Report provided from the MPCA about the incident.
